Rewrite the Voice Within: Feed What You Want to Believe
Aug 10, 2025The other day, I caught myself muttering, "I’m going to struggle to keep up." It wasn’t loud, it wasn’t dramatic — but it was familiar. And the moment I heard it, I paused.
Whose voice was that, really? Was that me now — or something I picked up years ago and never questioned?
This is what we’ve been talking about these last two weeks in Monday Moves.
๐บ Week 1 (July 28th): Feed the Right Wolf
We started by exploring the voices around us. The ones we absorb without even realizing it — the news, social media, well-meaning friends, family, or even the energetic tone of a room.
We shared the Cherokee parable about the two wolves: one representing fear, doubt, scarcity… the other representing hope, joy, truth.
The one that wins is the one you feed.
That story sparked something. Because we all know what it’s like to feel off and not know why — until we trace it back to the voices we’ve been listening to.
๐ญ Week 2 (August 4th) : Rewrite the Voice Within
This week, we turned inward.
The voices around us can shape the voice within us. But here's the truth: Just because you hear it doesn’t mean it’s true.
So many of the thoughts we carry — the inner loops that say, “I’m not disciplined,” or “I’m not creative,” or “I always fall short” — aren’t even ours.
They were inherited. Passed down. Picked up. Repeated until familiar.
Familiarity doesn’t equal truth.
And repetition doesn’t equal alignment.
๐ง What You Say Shapes Who You Become
Think about this: Would you let a stranger follow you around all day whispering, "You’re not good enough" or "You’ll never change"?
Of course not.
But many of us allow that same voice to live rent-free in our heads.
It’s time to evict it. Replace it. Rewrite it.
Because the version of you that you’re becoming? She deserves better words.
Pick a new phrase — one that matches who you want to be — and say it out loud daily this week.
Even if your voice shakes.
Some ideas:
-
“I’m becoming someone who follows through.”
-
“I am rooted in peace, not pressure.”
-
“I trust myself more each day.”
-
“I’m allowed to grow and change.”
- "I know what I need to do, AND I am taking action."
You’re not lying to yourself — you’re rehearsing the future.
โจ Questions to Reflect On:
-
What words or phrases have I been repeating that no longer serve me?
-
Who does that voice sound like — and do I want to keep carrying it?
Let’s say you’re heading into a busy season. Work, school, stress. And your inner voice goes, “Here we go again — I’m going to be exhausted.”
Pause. Replace it with something like:
“This season will stretch me, but I’m learning how to support myself through it.”
It doesn’t have to be toxic positivity. Just intentional honesty — with a direction that supports your becoming.
๐ Final Thought:
Whether the voice is coming from someone else or echoing inside your mind — you always have a choice.
Notice it.
Decide if it’s aligned.
And if it’s not?
Rewrite it.
Because you’re not just thinking thoughts — You’re choreographing a life you love. ๐
